The Philippine
Trade Training Center was established
in 1987 by virtue of Executive Order No. 133 and with
the official development assistance grant from the Government
of Japan through JICA, to invigorate an export industry
needed for the country’s economic recovery. It is
an attached agency of the Department of Trade and Industry
that assists exporters, would-be exporters, manufacturers
and entrepreneurs to become more competitive in the international
market through training.
In its 20th year of operations, PTTC envisions
itself as an evolving and dynamic capability-building
institution committed to satisfy the growing and changing
needs of MSMEs. Thus, PTTC provides training and advisory
services on entrepreneurship development, export management,
quality and productivity improvement, e-business and e-commerce,
as well as exhibition facilities for trade fairs and events.

Six universities and training institutes in the South East Asian region signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together in delivering trade policy training programs that were initially developed through the APEC Economic Integration Program (APEC-EIP) with funding from the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
With CIDA’s support ending in March 2009, these institutions formally created the Southeast Asian Trade Policy Training Network (or SEATRANET) to sustain the gains and the success in the delivery of trade policy training for government or business stakeholders in their own countries as well as in the Southeast Asian region. more
